CONSULTANCY

  • Structural assessment/inspection/case- related forensic investigation for defects/distresses/deterioration signs of different structures (e.g. residential, commercial, industrial) and infrastructures (e.g. marine ports, dams, bridges, power stations, sewage/water treatment plants) as well as historic/ancient structures built of different common materials (e.g. concrete, masonry, steel, lime -stones).
  • Strengthening/repair/rehabilitation design for various structures (age & materials).
  • Provision of durable solutions (design and specifications) for structures under different sever conditions.
    • The followings are some examples for inspection, rehabilitation and conservation projects;
      • Old Aswan dam and corresponding navigation/power stations components, Egypt. (120 yearsold, masonry)
      • Selected ancient tombs in the Valley of the Queens, Egypt. in cooperation with the GettyInstitute, USA

    • Innovative structural solutions for special exposure conditions (e.g. corrosion).
    • Efficient repairing/strengthening techniques/materials for traditional & ancient structures (g. Fiber Reinforced Polymers for reinforced concrete & lime based materials for ancient structures).
    • Recycling agricultural/industrial residuals for sustainable and affordable constructionApplications (e.g. flax/palm tree fibers, construction demolished materials and concrete plantsludge).
    • Durability application of sustainable innovative cementious material (e.g. corrosion andsulfate protective influences of cementious materials modified on Nano/Micro scales and Geopolymer)
    • Development of binding materials for historical buildings rehabilitation (e.g. binding mortarsand plastering for Queen’s valley tombs).
